As a student member of AST, you are also a member of the AST Student Association. In 2005, the AST Board of Directors established the first student focused event at the AST National Conference, now named the ASTSA Student Forum.  This forum allows students to learn and network with surgical technologists and have an opportunity to run for a student officer position of the ASTSA.  Student officers have returned as certified practitioners and are now contributing their talents and experience to the national organization through elected office in state assemblies and national committees.
